Easiest Bread Ever

Maria Gallardo-Williams (@Teachforaliving)

Materials

Flour (3 cups)

Yeast (1 tsp)

Salt (1 tsp)

Warm water (1.5 cups)

Procedure

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

  2. Add the water and stir it all together with a spoon until it forms a loose and wet dough. Do not knead. Cover and let it rise for at least 6 hours.

  3. Place a Dutch oven in the middle rack of the oven and preheat to 450 °F.

  4. Once heated place a piece of parchment paper in the Dutch oven, dump the dough into the parchment paper, and cut a slash across the top of the dough.

  5. Cover and bake for 30 min, then remove the lid and continue baking for another 15 min or until the bread is browned.

Supplemental Information

This recipe produces a very nice, crusty bread with an open crumb, without any of the kneading that a conventional bread requires. By making the dough very wet and allowing the yeast to work for a long time, air pockets are created that give the bread its airy texture.
