Easy 3-2-1 Shortbread

Materials

Flour (4 cups)

Margarine (2 cups)

Sugar (1 cup)

Maple syrup (1/4 cup)

Vanilla extract (1 tsp)


Procedure

  1. Cream margarine, sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla extract together.

  2. When smooth, add flour a little bit at a time to make the dough.

  3. When flour is fully incorporated, roll dough into a 1"X1" log on a floured countertop. Section dough into 4 equal-sized logs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 min.

  4. Preheat oven to 350 °F. After the dough has chilled for 30 min, cut each dough log into 1/4" -1/2" rounds and place on a parchment-papered baking sheet.

  5. Bake for 10-12 min or until golden brown, repeat until all dough is used.

  6. Let cool. Enjoy!

Supplemental Information

You can make a non-Newtonian icing for your cookies with 1 cup of icing sugar, 1 tsp almond extract, and 2 tbsp hot water if you choose.
