Honey, I Made an Avo Surprise

Peter Sagmeister (@SagmeisterPeter)

Materials

Avocado (1, almost ripe, see SI-1)

Goat cream cheese (150 g, 5 oz)

Tuscan bread (6 slices, highest quality)

Freshly ground pepper

Honey (highest quality)

Procedure

  1. Preheat a pan (it works best if you have an iron cast pan)

  2. Slice Tuscan bread in roughly 1 cm (1/2 inches) thick slices

  3. Butter the slices on one side with butter and toast only on the butter side in the pan until golden/brown

  4. Meanwhile cut the avocado in half, remove the pit and skin, and slice in fine pieces.

  5. Remove toast from the pan, spread goat cream cheese on top

  6. Lay the slices of avocado on cream cheese (for a professional look, you can use tweezers if you want to)

  7. Top off with fresh ground pepper and drizzle some honey on top

  8. Enjoy! (with correct timing, enjoy it warm!)

Supplemental Information

  1. I always use the ones which are still a bit hard

  2. This recipe will blow your mind and is an absolute must for a good start on a busy day. It only takes 10 minutes from the fridge to your mouth. It perfectly works as a starter if you want to impress your friends with simplicity and flavour explosions.
